Using Butter Up during the tattoo process
Butter up was created as an effective, ethical aftercare for your tattoos. However, did you know that it can be used as the perfect lubricant during the tattoo process too?
Created as a natural, organic and 100% vegan tattoo care to help heal and nourish your tattoos, Butter Up does a great job on helping tattoo artists have a comfortable experience during the tattoo process as well.
We spoke with JJ Sleight, tattoo artist and owner of Prohibition Tattoo, a buzzing studio based in Pop Brixton, London. After testing Butter Up during the tattoo process, this is what he said...
'Overall I think it’s an amazing butter and lubricant to use for tattooing, reducing redness and swelling of the area.
The skin absorbs the butter nicely giving the area another lubricant to pull lines without the tips getting blocked with the excess.
I also found when rubbing it in, it pulls the excess ink off, clearing the area for good visibility without irritating the skin by wiping too much.
The only down side I found is I had to rub it in a bit more than other butters I’ve used in the past. I also wrapped the tattoo with Butter Up on, I could hardly feel that I had tattooed myself!'
So there you have it, if you didn't know before, you do now. Try us out for before, during and aftercare for all tattoos and see what you think.
